Snapshot reminders

Keep your history unbroken. Pick your day and hour, and Verdly emails you the moment your next snapshot is due.

Tracking your net worth only works if you actually record it. The gap between intending to check in and remembering to check in is where most people’s history quietly stops, usually somewhere around the third month.

Reminders close that gap. Tell Verdly when you want to be nudged, and an email arrives at that moment, linked to the snapshot it is nudging you about.

It follows the cadence you already track on

You do not pick a reminder frequency. Verdly uses the recording cadence already set under Settings → Profile, so the nudge and your history stay in step: weekly, monthly or quarterly. A quarterly reminder arrives in the quarter’s final month — March, June, September or December — so it names the quarter it is closing rather than one still running.

Daily tracking is the exception. If you are recording every day you are already in the habit, and a daily email is the quickest way to make a useful message feel like noise — so reminders are not offered on that cadence.

You choose the day, the hour and the zone

  • Which day. On a weekly cadence, any day of the week — Sunday by default, so the reminder closes the week it names. On monthly and quarterly, any date up to the 28th, or the last day of the month. The 28 is deliberate rather than arbitrary: no month is shorter, so the day you choose always exists and February never quietly moves it. If what you really want is month end, that is its own option.
  • What time. Any hour, read in your own timezone rather than ours. The default is 11am: past everyone’s morning, with enough of the day left to do something about it.
  • Which zone. Detected from your device the first time, and yours to correct if that is not where you are.

Change any of them and a line beneath the form tells you which snapshot your next reminder will cover and exactly when it will arrive, so you are never left guessing at what you have just set up.

It stays quiet when you are already up to date

A reminder is only sent if you have not already recorded a snapshot for the period it covers. Record August’s balances on the 20th and the reminder set for the 25th simply does not arrive. The nudge is for the month you let slip, never for the one you have already dealt with.

Stopping is one click; changing it is barely more

Every reminder carries both routes. Your mail client’s own unsubscribe control — the one your provider puts up beside the sender — stops them outright in a single press, with no page to visit and nothing to sign in to.

The link inside the message goes somewhere more useful. It opens a page that changes nothing until you press the button, and offers to change the day and hour instead of stopping altogether — because a reminder arriving at the wrong time is a scheduling problem, and unsubscribing is a blunt fix for it.

You can equally switch the channel off in Settings, which leaves everything else exactly as it was and is also where you turn them back on if you change your mind.

Reminders are part of the free plan. Email is the only channel today; the plumbing behind it is built to take others without you having to set anything up again.
